The Art of Chaos (1)
It was dark. Aramil crouched, lying low. A merry whistling alerted him to the presence of a bank guard. Aramil gripped his dagger tighter and glanced at Lidda. She nodded grimly. The Death Toll for Law. The Guard fell to the ground silently. The duo crept onwards. Two guards stood in front of what, even in the darkness, was clearly a solid gold door.He turned to Lidda and crossed his neck with a finger. She nodded darkly. Halfling and Elf turned as one, dagger and bolt sprouting from Lawful throats simultaneously. The chainmail-clad warriors fell. Lidda walked forward, removed a small pouch from her belt-within seconds she had picked the lock. The guilded door sprang open easily. Aramil, thinking quickly, donned the Guard's armor and weapons, whistling a cheery tune, he entered the bank after the Shadow that was his ally.

Allright Noobs. It's time for Basic Training (2)
Today's Lesson: Not dying!
You die when your health points reach -10, or your constitution is reduced to 0.
At 0 Health Points you can perform 1 action before you lose consciousness. At -1 hp you are unconscious and dying. You lose 1hp a round, unless stabilized by the heal skill or are healed by a spell.
The number one way to not die is to not do really stupid things. Before you make your character do something stupid, at least make sure you won't die. Unfortunately even the most conservative character answers the call of Death occasionally. Your charecter will die. Probably several times. Just accept it. We'll just take you to a Cleric to revive you. After the party reaches the sixth lvl then Kaitlin will be able to reincarnate you (but you won't be able to reincarnate yourself, Kaitlin, after all you're dead). Unfortunatly, reincarnate does not (usually) give you your body back. You usually get an animal's. But, hey, beats taking a dirt-nap.
A couple of suggestions to keep your adventurer's heart kickin' are:
1) Build up your AC. This can be done several ways-armor, increasing dexterity, shields, grow scales/thiker skin, and even the legendary deflection bonus. Ooooh indeed.
2) Get more HP. This can be done by having a high Constitution Score.
3) If 2) is impossible, rely on your allies. Don't take levels in a high-HP class if it'll kill your Spellcasting.
4) Get a bunch of health potions. They heal you (duh) don't just rely on Kaitlin to heal you. She only gets so many spells per day, and most of them are cooler than Heal Moderate Wounds
5) Get Cover. Cover gives you a bonus to your AC.
6) Build up your saves. Nothing is more frustrating than fighting through an army of orcs, only to die when the boss uses Phantasm Killer (a realativly easy spell to resist, as you get to make both a Will Save AND a fortitude save to negate its effects)
Saves
"I love the taste of Arsenic in the morn."-Fortitude
Fortitude keeps you from dying from instakill attacks and spells, negates the affects of poison, and negates Death from Massive Damage (when you take 50 damage or more there's a chance you die instantly)
"Haha! Stupid Dragon! Ya' missed!"-Reflex
Reflex is used mainly for dodging unavaoidable attacks (such as a Dragon's Breath Weapon or a Wizard's Lightninig Bolt), but also saves your hide from an unexpected trap. Usually when you make a Reflex Save against an unavoidable spell, you only take reduced damage (most likely half) but the Evasion Class feature allows you to completly dodge the attack. If you fail your save you still only take half damage.
"My Willpower far exceeds your own, Feebleminded One"-Will
Will is generally used to keep enemies out of your head. It's as simple as that.

Allright Noobs. It's time for Basic Training (1)
OK. You noobs interested in playing D&D listen up. This is the first of your lessons. I'm telling it to you know so you'll have some idea what your doing when the game starts.
Ability Scores
These represent your charecter's base abilities. Every Fourth Level up you gain 1 point to add to any ability Score of your choosing.
-Strength-Affects likelyhood to hit and damage dealt with melee weapons. Also Affects Damage with certain ranged weapons
-Dexterity-Adds to your Armor Class, affects Reflex Saves, and likelyhood to hit and damage with ranged Weapons. Also you can take the Weapon Finesse feat to allow you to use your Dexterity to affect hit chance and damage with light melee weapons (and the rapier amd spiked chain)
-Constitution-Affects your Hit Points and your Fortitude save.
-Intelligence-Affects how many skill points you get per level and the number of languages you speak, also is the most important Score for Wizards, as it affects every aspect of their spellcasting.
-Wisdom-Affects your Will Saves, also is the most important score for Clerics and Druids because it affects every aspect of their spellcasting (also usefull for Paladins and Rangers, but they benefit more from high Physical Scores)
-Charisma-Affects how NPCs veiw you, also most important score for Sorcerers and Bards because it affects every aspect of their Spellcasting
The most important part of your Scores is, of course, the ABILITY MODIFIERS! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the number that actually affects stuff! To get your Ability Mod, simply subtract 10 from your score and Divide by 2. For Example, Krusk, the Half-orc Barbarian has 19 Strength (an impressive score, assuming Krusk is a first level charecter) HIs Strength modifyer is +4 (because you have to round down). Unfortunatly Krusk only has an Intelligence score of 6 (-2), so he has what is called an Ability Penalty. This is bad. Since Krusk is an Imbecile (with an IQ probably around 63) he is really bad at all Intelligence-realated checks (such as picking locks, identifying spells, concoting Alchemical Stuff, Searching for stuff, etc, etc...)
That's All for Lesson 1. More tomorrow or the day after.
